Port-Au-Prince, July 7, 2021 – The Haitian President Jovenel Moïse is reportedly shot dead at his private residence in Pèlerin 5 (Petionville, Haiti). According to the interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph, the Haitian first lady Martin Moise, wounded during the attack, is currently receiving care at a local hospital.
President Jovenel Moise was executed around one (1) AM Wednesday, July 7, 2021, by a group of unidentified Spanish and English-speaking individuals.
Prime Minister Claude Joseph who is currently acting as president of Haiti calls on the Haitian population to keep calm and promise to take to justice those who committed this horrendous crime.
Jovenel Moïse, 53, was elected in 2017 as the 58th president of Haiti. He was married to Martine Moise with whom he had three children. President Moise is the first elected Haitian president killed while in office since Jean Vilbrun Guillaume Sam was killed on July 28, 1915.
